Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Accident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The tally of victims from the freight aircraft that ignited and crashed has risen to 13, according to official announcements.

Mayor's Announcement

Traveling to the Teamsters’ candlelight gathering, I was informed of a 13th person that lost their life as a outcome of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” stated the municipal leader in a social media post. “My heart are with the loved ones, friends and co-workers of all who were killed in this recently occurred tragedy. We will get through this as one.”

Deceased Identified

A statement from the carrier named the pilots aboard the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts go out to every staff member who has been impacted and all in our community region – supporting you and making sure you receive the support and resources you need is our priority,” the organization’s message read.

Investigation Updates

Government officials revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s left wing caught fire and an engine separated shortly after departure from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, resulting in the jet to crash and burst into a blaze.

The NTSB announced it is probing the jet’s maintenance history, that was in the state for repairs weeks ahead of the incident.

Aircraft records indicated the jet was on the tarmac in the Texas city from the start of last month to mid-October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was located in that city,” remarked an NTSB member on the following day, not giving a specific period. “We will look at all elements of repairs that was done, even the Texas time, straight to the date of the flight.”

Retrieval of Vital Items

The audio device and information unit were found, and the motor was found on the airfield.

The recorders – referred to as flight recorders – were constructed to withstand accident forces and intense heat from infernos, and they appeared to be in one piece when discovered within the remains. Authorities plan on reviewing information from the recorders.

The plane’s last data recordings displayed an elevation of 475 ft and a velocity of that speed ahead of the accident.

Maintenance History

Per FAA documents from that date, a fracture on a structural piece inside the tank area demanded maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it supplies airframe maintenance for the carrier’s aircraft and operates a repair facility in San Antonio, declined to provide remarks, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators approached it.

Services Continue

In the meantime, the facility activities continued last night with its Next Day Air or nighttime procedure, spokesperson a representative confirmed. All three tarmacs at the airport were likewise back in operation.

The distribution hub in this location is the firm’s biggest. The facility employs more than a large number of people in the locality, handles numerous flights per day and processes over four hundred thousand parcels each hour.

Public Reaction

A memorial was held on the late afternoon of 6 November by the regional Teamsters Union, which supports employees at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest freight center.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for employees, commenced the gathering with a quiet tribute at that time, the approximate time of the incident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so unexpected,” the leader told the crowd of two hundred. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have mourned.”
